WarnerMedia and Discovery Unite To Create New Streaming Service

AT&T – the owner of WarnerMedia – and Discovery, have agreed on a deal to create a new streaming platform.

The new service will be competing in an already over-saturated market, currently led by Netflix with over 208 million subscribers.

Other competition includes Amazon, Disney+, Apple TV and Hulu.

The “pure play” content company will own one of the deepest libraries in the world with nearly 200,000 hours of iconic programming and will bring together over 100 of the most cherished, popular and trusted brands in the world under one global portfolio.” AT&T said in its announcement.

WarnerMedia already owns the incredibly popular streaming platform HBO Max, which includes titles such as Game of Thrones and The Flight Attendant.

The company will now hope to tempt its audience onto its new platform with a wider spectrum of content.

Together the companies merge globally familiar brands including DC Comics, CNN, Cartoon Network and Animal Planet.
