The Instagram account states in its bio “Not affiliated with the Met Museum”, but many fans have gotten very angry over it.

A major criticism of the speculative list is James Charles inclusion.

Charles was recently accused of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Other fans are annoyed by the inclusion of Tiktok and Youtube stars all together.

Many feel they are not inline with the usual standard of celebrity expected to attend the Met Gala.

One Twitter user joked about the distinct difference between some attendee’s;

On 14th August, Page Six reported that some of the A-list celebrities are annoyed at the guest list.

A celebrity publicist with A-list clients stated; “Personally, I don’t think the Met is cool anymore … It’s gone from super prestigious to [being] full of influencers.”

Two highly speculated influencer’s that will be in attendance are Emma Chamberlain and Addison Rae.

On the flip side, this year’s gala is focussing on celebrating young talent.

A source told The New York Post “Any of the old guard who are complaining simply didn’t get invited — it’s just sour grapes.”

The Met Gala is scheduled for 13th September, and the theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion”.
