Alec Baldwin Cancelling All Other Projects Following Rust Shooting

Alec Baldwin is reportedly “cancelling all other projects” following the accidental shooting on the set of Rust.

The incident claimed the life of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injured director Joel Souza. Baldwin has reportedly been rehearsing a scene with the pair when he fired the gun – which he believed to be empty – accidentally discharging a live round.

Now a source for People alleges that the 63-year-old actor will take a sabbatical.

“This was pretty devastating,” the source told People. “This is how he handles difficult times. Whenever something bad happened, in the short term, he removed himself from [the] public eye.”

The source added that Baldwin was “hysterical and inconsolable for hours” following the incident. “Everyone knows this was an accident, but he’s absolutely devastated.”

Following the incident, Baldwin issued a statement on Twitter expressing his “shock and sadness”.

“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred,” wrote Baldwin.

“I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Baldwin was recently pictured embracing Hutchins‘ husband, Matthew, and their son. In a conversation with the Daily Mail, Matthew said that Baldwin was “being very supportive”.

In an interview with The Sun, Hutchins‘ father, Anatoly Androsovych, said: “I don’t hold Alec Baldwin responsible – it is the responsibility of the props people who handle the guns.”
