James Wrights’ ‘Woman In The Window’ Starring Amy Adams Acquired By ‘Netflix’

Amy Adams stars in Netflix adaptation of the best-selling novel The Woman in the Window.
The 46-year-old Hillbilly Elegy actress was left wondering if her role in The Woman in the Window would ever see the light of day after it was halted from cinema screenings with an original release of October 2019.
Reshoots occurred to ensure the plot wasn’t confusing to audiences after a handful of test screenings left viewers side-struck by the plot, producers felt scrapping certain scenes could be a saving grace.
Director Joe Wright told EW, “There were some plot points that people found a bit confusing — I would say possibly too opaque maybe … So we had to go back and clarify certain points, but I think also we tried to make sure we didn’t oversimplify anything and make things too clear. There’s an enjoyment in not knowing what’s going on, but at the same time, you have to give the audience something to hold on to — you have to lead them through the labyrinth of mystery and fear.”
Due to the impact of the pandemic, the second slated release date of May 2020 was also halted leaving actress Adams and creators of the film in limbo and fearful the film could be completely shelved. Netflix has now acquired the film and will begin streaming it “in the first half of the year.”
