Antonio Banderas Joins The Cast Of ‘Indiana Jones 5’

Antonio Banderas has become the latest star to join the cast of the next Indiana Jones film as filming on the fifth instalment of the franchise is now underway.

The actor’s role in the film is not yet known, however he will join an already star studded cast including Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renée Wilson.

Filming on Indiana Jones 5 is taking place in Glasgow with Ford currently absent from filming after sustaining an injury to his shoulder.

“In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder,” a Disney spokesperson said.

Production on the film is continuing despite the injury and Ford will re-join the cast on-set once his shoulder has fully healed.

Director Steven Spielberg who was originally going to direct the film took on the role of executive producer after passing the filmmaking reins to Mangold.

John Williams also makes a return to the franchise to write the score for the new film.

Indiana Jones 5 will release on July 29, 2022.
