An original audiobook entitled The Dispatcher is to receive its very own television adaptation.

Created by John Scalzi and narrated by Zachary Quinto, the story explores a distant future where murder is impossible.

Focusing on a Dispatcher named Tony Valdez, whose job it is to humanely dispatch those about to die. Teaming up with Chicago detective Nona Langdon, the pair set about saving people at death’s door and investigating the crimes that put them there.

According to Deadline, The Dispatcher was discovered by Netflix producer Uri Singer, who has since acquired the rights for the title.

Singer’s current projects include a film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s book White Noise. The picture will reportedly star Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, with hopes to arrive on Netflix in 2022.
