Backup Dancer Testifies To Seeing R. Kelly Abuse Underage Aaliyah

A former backup dancer of R. Kelly has testified to seeing the R&B singer abuse Aaliyah when she was 13 or 14-years-old.

The woman – who took the stand under the name Angela – alleges that she witnessed Kelly perform oral sex on Aaliyah as a teenager. She also accuses Kelly of sexually abusing her at a similar age.

Vulture reports that Angela gave her testimony at court in Brooklyn on Monday (September 13).

Angela described attending a party at Kelly’s Chicago apartment in 1991, when she was 14 or 15-years-old. She says she and a number of other underage girls were then brought into a room with Kelly and made to disrobe and perform sexual acts.

“The defendant asked me to straddle him and to ride him. I asked if I could grab a condom,” She said. “After that I proceeded to put the condom on the gentleman and straddled him.”

Angela alleges that she proceeded to spend time with Kelly “everyday for quite a few years” and that he would continue to abuse her. In 1992 or 1993, she worked as a backup dancer on one of Kelly’s tours.

When shown a photo of Aaliyah in the courtroom, Angela quickly identified her as “Aaliyah Dana Haughton“. She added that the pair had met on Aaliyah’s 13th birthday when Kelly introduced them.

On the occasion she claims to have witnessed Kelly engaged in sexual activity with Aaliyah, they were on a tour bus. “I saw Robert and Aaliyah in sexual situation,” she said. “It appeared that he had his head in between her legs and was giving her oral sex.”

“I closed the door abruptly and pushed the girl behind me away from the door.”

If convicted, Kelly faces between ten years to life for sex trafficking and other related sexual offences.
