Bell Hooks Dies Aged 69

bell hooks, real name Gloria Jean Watkins, author and activist, has passed away at the age of sixty-nine with the cause of death being an end-stage renal failure.
With more than thirty books published, hooks challenged political issues such as the capitalism as well as how a white hetero-patriarchy society suppresses certain individuals based on their race, gender or/and sexuality.
In 2016, Bell released an essay for The Guardian in which she explored Beyonce’s album Lemonade and how it portrayed Black womanhood as a capitalist objectification.
Following the news of her death, celebrities such as Little Simz, Olivia Wilde and Muna have paid tributes on their social media.
Rest in Peace, Gloria.
