Brigitte Bardot Fined For Racist Abuse
French Screen legend Brigitte Bardot has been fined for using racial slurs to describe La Reunion islanders.
The former film star, was fined €20,000 by French prosecutors on Thursday, after she described inhabitants of La Reunion island as “degenerate savages” in a letter sent to the islands police chief in 2019.
Bardot had sent the open letter through her Animal Rights organization, in response to what she saw as the mistreatment of animals by some of the islands inhabitants.
“The natives have kept their savage genes,” she wrote at the time.
It’s not the first time Bardot, who quit the film industry in 1973, has appeared in court for making racist comments. In 2008, the former actress appeared in court on trial for using racist slurs to describe Muslims.
