Britney Spears Argues Against Paying Her Mother’s Legal Fees

Britney Spears asks US judges to reject her mother’s petition that she cover the $660,000 bill she has accrued in legal fees.
The eye-watering bill relates to the legal battle over Spears’ former conservatorship, however, her mother – Lynne Spears – did not play a primary role in these proceedings.
According to Sky News, Spears‘ lawyers state that she has “continuously and generously” supported her mother and acted as the family’s “sole breadwinner”, but added that she had “no authority at all” to expect her daughter to cover the legal fees of a “third party”.
The filing notes that Lynne Spears resides in an expensive property owned by her daughter in Kentwood, Louisiana, with her “utilities, telephone services, insurance, property taxes, landscaping, pool work, pest control, repairs and maintenance” bills covered by Spears at an expense of $1.7 million.
The Toxic singer’s father, Jamie Spears, has also filed for his daughter’s estate to cover his legal fees.
His legal team argues that he “stepped up” as his daughter’s conservator for thirteen years and denies her allegations that he took advantage of the “abusive” arrangement.
A hearing over the legal fees is due to take place in July.
