Britney Spears’ Father Jamie Wants Her To Pay His Legal Fees

Britney Spears‘ father and former conservator Jamie Spears has requested that his daughter pays for his legal fees.
According to Variety, Spears’ father made the request in a court filing last week. The 69-year-old was officially suspended from his daughter’s conservatorship in September.
The new filing claims that the fees are required to ensure a quick conclusion to Spears’ conservatorship, stating: “Prompt payment on account of Jamie’s attorneys’ fees is necessary to ensure the conservatorship can be wound up quickly and efficiently to allow Britney to take control of her life as she and Jamie desire.”
In testimony she delivered earlier this year, Spears accused her father of grossly abusing the power he held over her in the conservatorship. Saying that she had been left “traumatized”, Spears listed a number of abuses her father allegedly carried out, including drugging her without consent, eavesdropping and denying her desire to have a baby.
Responding to the filing on Monday (December 20), Spears’ lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, branded the request an “abomination”.
“Mr Spears reaped many millions of dollars from Britney as a conservator, while paying his lawyers millions more, all from Britney’s work and hard earned money. The conservatorship has been terminated and Mr Spears was suspended ignominiously,” said Rosengart. “Under the circumstances, his petition is not only legally meritless, it is an abomination.”
“Britney poignantly testified about the pain her father caused her and this only adds to it. This is not what a father who loves his daughter does.”
Spears’ conservatorship was called to an end in November.
