E! News reports that the 37-year-old filed the paperwork at Los Angeles County Superior Court on February 18. Burke listed January 7, 2021 as the official date of separation.
Citing irreconcilable differences, Burke dismissed the need for spousal support due to the couple’s existing prenuptial agreement.
Burke met Lawrence in 2006 after his brother and Blossom actor, Joey Lawrence, competed in Dancing With The Stars. They began dating in 2007 but broke up a year later. Rekindling their romance in 2017, the couple were married in San Diego on May 23, 2019.
Speaking on her relationship with Lawrence in 2020, Burke previously said she was “grateful and happy” to have found him.
“Looking back, I honestly think that the first relationship I ever had that did not fit this abusive pattern was when my now-husband Matt and I dated the first time around, back in 2007,” she said. “I honestly think at the time when we first dated, I didn’t clearly love myself enough to think that I deserved to be with someone who was actually nice to me.”
“So I’m just so grateful and happy that the universe really brought him back into my life when I was ready and had grown into the person I am now because he is the complete opposite of everything bad about my past relationships.”
