The 45-year-old actor will make his debut as the iconic DC villain in the upcoming film, The Batman, scheduled for release on March 4, 2022. Among his co-stars are Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as Riddler.
Now, Variety reports that Farrell will continue his iteration of the villain in a new, and untitled, television series.
Few details are known about the planned show, though it will reportedly focus on Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham City’s underworld. Lauren LeFranc is penning the script, with The Batman director Matt Reeves, and producer Dylan Clark, also attached as executive producers.
Colin Farrell made his film debut in 1999’s The War Zone. He has gone on to star in a number of major features, including the likes of In Bruges, Horrible Bosses, Seven Psychopaths, The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. His television performances include True Detective and The North Water.
