Comedian And Actor Gilbert Gottfried Dies Aged 67

Comedian and voice actor Gilbert Gottfried has passed away at the age of 67.
Confirming the news in a statement to the Washington Post, Gottfried’s publicist said that he had died following a battle with a form of muscular dystrophy known as myotonic dystrophy type 2.
“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” wrote his family on Twitter. “In addition to being the iconic voice of comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children.”
“Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”
Best known for his voice acting work on Disney’s classic 1992 animation Aladdin, Gottfried also featured in films like Beverly Hills Cop II, Dr Dolittle, and Problem Child. Beginning a career in stand-up at the young age of 15, Gottfried also enjoyed a brief run as a member of Saturday Night Live in 1980.
In tribute a series of tributes posted on Twitter, Seinfield actor Jason Alexander wrote: “Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh at a time when laughter did not come easily. What a gift. I did not know him well but I loved what he shared with me. My Best wishes and sympathy to his family.”

“Gilbert Gottfried made me laugh so hard that day on set, I could barely do my job,” tweeted Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane. “A wholly original comic and an equally kind and humble guy behind the scenes. He will be missed.”

Night At The Museum and Zoolander star Ben Stiller also tweeted: “I don’t think I ever laughed as hard as I did sitting on a flight to LA across from Gilbert once in the early 90s. He would do something funny and not stop until you stopped laughing. God he was funny. So funny. Sending love to his family.”
