Winning the award for the second time in his career, Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid makes history as second player ever to win the Hart Trophy unanimously as he is NHL’s MVP.

ESPN report that “McDavid placed first on all 100 ballots from the Professional Hockey Writers Association.” The last player to do this was Wayne Gretzky who also accomplished the same historic moment whilst playing for the Oilers. This is the second time he has won the award.

This wasn’t the only award the player won as he added the Ted Lindsay Award to his trophy cabinet as the NHLPA’s most outstanding player. The award comes as McDavid led scoring in the league, with the player scoring 105 points in the 56 games that he played.
