Dana White Believes Conor McGregor Will Return To Fighting This Year

UFC President Dana White says he believes Conor McGregor can return to fighting later this year.
McGregor has been on a hiatus from the ring since suffering a devastating injury in July of 2021. The injury occurred during his rematch against Dustin Poirier, which he ultimately lost due to a technical knockout. He was subsequently handed an enforced 6-month suspension on medical grounds.
In an interview with TMZ Sports, White was asked whether McGregor had a chance at a comeback later this year.
“I think so, yeah,” he replied. “He’s doing all the right things with his leg. I’m hoping he can come back this summer.”
Rumours of McGregor’s retirement had been circulating prior to his bout with Poirier. The 33-year-old fighter has, on multiple occasions, declared his intention to step away from the sport, though has so far shown no signs of doing so.
He is currently ranked 9th in the UFC Lightweight division, which Charles Oliveira currently tops.
