Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos To Fly Into Space On Board Blue Origin Rocket

Jeff Bezos announced on Monday, that he and his brother Mark will fly to space onboard Blue Origins new Shepard Rocket planned for launch July 20. 

Bezos and Mark will be joined by a third crew member that is currently being decided by a charity auction on Blue Origin’s website.

The third seat as of June 8 was priced at $3.5m with the auction set to close on June 12.

“Ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space. On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend.” the Amazon founder said.

The flight will only last a few minutes from start to finish. With the capsule expected to reach an altitude of over 100Km.

In a video announcing his plan Bezos said.

“You see the Earth from space, it changes you.”

Bezos also recently said he will step down as Amazon’s CEO on July 5, shortly before his flight into space.
