Vanessa Bryant Reveals She Learnt Of Husband Kobe’s Death Online

The widow of Kobe Bryant has revealed that she first discovered her husband and daughter were dead through online tributes.
Kobe and Gianna Bryant died tragically in a helicopter crash on 26 January, 2020.
Vanessa Bryant is currently suing the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for negligence after first responders reportedly took photos at the crash site – including of Kobe and Gianna’s bodies.
In a transcript of testimony obtained by USA Today Sports, Bryant revealed exactly how she learnt that Kobe and Gianna were dead. She said her assistant informed her there had been a crash but there were survivors.
Then, whilst trying to get in contact with her mother, Bryant said that notifications began popping up on her phone, alerting her to tributes to her deceased husband.
“I tried getting hold of my mom. As soon as I was on the phone with my mom, I was holding on to my phone, because obviously I was trying to call my husband back,” said Bryant. “And all these notifications started popping up on my phone, saying RIP Kobe. RIP Kobe. RIP Kobe.”
Bryant then says she tried to take a helicopter ride to the crash site but was refused due to bad weather.
