Elizabeth Olsen Praises “Tough” Scarlett Johansson’s Legal Battle

Elizabeth Olsen expressed support for Scarlett Johansson‘s legal action against Disney.

Johansson has taken legal action against Disney for releasing Black Widow on Disney+ simultaneously with its release in cinemas.

Olsen is best known for playing Wanda Maximoff, aka The Scarlett Witch, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Olsen said that Johansson was “so tough”.

She also said “when I read [about the legal action] I was like, ‘good for you Scarlett’”.

The legal dispute has arisen as Johansson alleges that Disney have breached her contract by releasing Black Widow on Disney+ and in cinemas at the same time.

The lawsuit states that Johansson‘s earnings are linked to the film’s box officer performance.

It claims that Disney‘s decision to have a “hybrid” release resulted in Johansson’s earnings being directly affected, as she could not profit from the Disney+ release.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney denies any wrong doing, stating that the “contract did not guarantee an ‘exclusive theatrical release’”.

Actor Jason Sudeikis also express admiration for Johansson stating“it is appropriately bad-ass and on brand”.
