Mugler has led a rather hermitic life for more than 15 years, since Clarins—which owned his clothing line—shuttered the business. This marked the end of a spectacular career that was launched in 1974 in Paris and reached its zenith in the ’80s and ’90s.”, as reported by Fashion Magazine.

The Mugler fragrance line continued and is still going today, proving it to be popular and profitable.

His designs have been worn by the likes of David Bowie and Lady Gaga, as well as making many costumes for Beyoncé and creating Kim Kardashian’s famous look at the 2019 Met Gala.

His agent has reportedly said that the designer died of natural causes.
