Female Led ‘Zorro’ Series Headed For The CW

The CW is reportedly working on a television adaptation of Zorro.
According to Deadline, the new series will focus on a female iteration of the classic vigilante, first conceived by Johnston McCulley.
The new show, co-written by Robert Rodriguez, showrunner Sean Tretta, and director Rebecca Rodriguez, follows a young Latinx woman who adopts the persona of Zorro as she goes in search of vengeance for her murdered father.
Robert Rodriguez boasts major success from his previous action and western titles. Some of his best-known credits include the Mexico Trilogy, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Sin City.
He was also previously attached to direct the 1998 film The Mask of Zorro, starring Antonio Banderas, but ultimately left the project.
