Former Mets Pitcher Pedro Feliciano Dies Aged 45

Former New York Mets pitcher Pedro Feliciano has passed away at the age of 45.

Confirming the news in a statement, the New York Mets named Feliciano “one of the most competitive, durable and reliable relievers”.

“The Mets are so saddened to hear of the loss to their family today,” read the statement. “Pedro Feliciano will be remembered as a beloved member of the Mets organisation for his impact as a great teammate as well as his reputation as one of the most competitive, durable and reliable relievers during his time in Queens.”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Feliciano family. Rest in peace, Pedro.”

According to ESPN’s Eduardo Perez, Feliciano died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday evening. He was reportedly diagnosed with a genetic heart condition in 2013.

Feliciano made his MLB debut in 2002, earning himself the nickname “Perpetual Pedro” for his 408 appearances between 2006 and 2010.
