Greta Gerwig To Direct Live Action ‘Barbie’ Film Starring Margot Robbie

Greta Gerwig is set to direct new Barbie film which will be starring Margot Robbie. 

After the success of her second film Little Women in 2019, Greta Gerwig is set to take on another directing challenge as she will direct the new Barbie movie.

Margot Robbie has been cast to play the lead role of Barbie, which will be produced by Robbie’s company.

Robbie has previously played characters such Tonya Harding in the hit film ‘I, Tonya’. Alongside fictional characters like the famous Harley Quinn.

The Australian actress stated about the film in British Vogue: “People generally hear ‘Barbie’ and think, ‘I know what that movie is going to be,’ and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, ‘Oh, well, maybe I don’t…’.”

The film will be distributed by Warner Bros in 2023.
