HBO Max Is Officially Bringing Back ‘Degrassi’

HBO Max has announced that it is rebooting hit-show Degrassi in 2023.
The series will be spearheaded by WildBrain and showrunners Lara Azzopardi (The Bold Type) and Julia Cohen (Riverdale).
It will feature ten one-hour long episodes when it returns next year.
Set in Toronto, the new series “explores a group of teenagers and school faculty living in the shadow of events that both bind them together and tear them apart,” according to Deadline.
Azzopardi and Cohen said: “What excites us maybe the most about reviving this beloved franchise is turning it into a truly serialized one-hour drama. We’re honored to be given the opportunity to lead this evolution and bring this iconic series back into people’s homes.”
HBO will be adding previous seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation to their catalogue in the Spring.
Filming will take place in 2022 with the series debuting exclusively on HBO Max in 2023.
