India Arie Is Removing Her Music From Spotify Because Of Joe Rogan
Grammy Award-winning musician India Arie has revealed she’s removing her music from Spotify over Joe Rogan’s “language around race.”
In an announcement on her Instagram on Monday, Arie shared details behind her decision to leave the streaming platform following on from Neil Young’s exit due to Rogan spreading “misinformation” about the COVID-19 vaccine.
“I have decided to pull my music and podcast from Spotify. Neil Young opened a door that I must walkthrough. I believe in freedom of speech. However, I find Joe Rogan problematic for reasons other than his COVID interviews,” Aria wrote.
The singer-songwriter went on to explain that it isn’t just Rogan’s controversial opinions on the COVID-19 vaccine that made her choose to distance herself from Spotify, but also his language around race.

“For me it’s also his language around race. What I am talking about is respect, who gets it and who doesn’t.”
“Paying musician a fraction of a penny and him $100m? This show the type of company they are the company that they keep,” she wrote.
