J Balvin’s Music Video Removed From YouTube Amid Controversy

J Balvin’s official music video for Perra was taken down by YouTube on Sunday, amid controversy over how it portrayed black women.
The music video for the track, in collaboration with Tokischa, received backlash last month for its oversexualized depiction of black women.
In the music video, directed by Raymi Paulus, the Colombian artist can be seen tugging at two black women on leases.
The video’s takedown comes less then a week after Colombian Vice President Marta Lucía Ramírez released a statement critical of the video.
In the statement Ramírez criticised how the video ‘portrayed people of African descent as dogs’.
YouTube has not yet provided a reason as to why they have taken down the video. J Balvin and Tokischa have also not yet commented on the video’s takedown.
