Jeff Bezos Sues Nasa Over Contract With Elon Musk’s SpaceX

Jeff Bezo’s company, Blue Origin, is suing Nasa over a $2.9 billion deal it awarded to Elon Musk’s SpaceX.

There were initially expected to be two contracts, however a funding shortfall caused Nasa to award just one to SpaceX. The contract covers Nasa’s lunar lander project which aims to land on the Moon in 2024.

According to Sky, Blue Origins aims to “remedy the flaws in the acquisition process found in NASA’s Human Landing System”.

“We firmly believe that the issues identified in this procurement and it’s outcomes must be addressed to restore fairness, create competition and ensure a safe return to the Moon for America.”

Jeff Bezos reportedly offered Nasa $2 billion to be reconsidered for the contract but was turned down.

Nasa is required to respond to the lawsuit by October 12. Both Nasa and SpaceX have yet to comment on the action.
