Jerry Messing, also known as ‘Fedora Guy‘, has reportedly seen his COVID condition improve enough to have his ventilator removed.

Messing was admitted to hospital over a month ago after contracting the deadly virus. He was placed onto a ventilator shortly after his arrival.

According to TMZ, the latest update comes from Messing himself after he was permitted to leave the ICU. Though still hospitalised, Messing states that he has been free from a ventilator for over a week and a half and recent Covid tests have been negative.

Despite his positive progress, Messing revealed that he is partially paralysed and unable to move his limbs easily. This is a common consequence of being on a ventilator and Messing says he is undergoing physical therapy to regain his mobility.

Messing gained online notoriety in 2013 after a picture of him wearing a fedora became an internet meme, now known simply as ‘Fedora Guy‘.

He has previously enjoyed an acting career. In 1998 he starred as Pugsley Addams in ‘Addams Family Reunion‘. He has also featured in shows including ‘Freaks and Geeks‘ and ‘Malcolm in the Middle‘.
