Jessica Chastain Opens Up About Poor Upbringing

Actress Jessica Chastain has opened up about her upbringing in a poverty-stricken home, saying people expect her to have a “different background.”
In a new interview with The Sunday Times, the two-time Oscar nominated actress said many people expect her to have been brought up in the same privileged position she is in now, but that the reality was much different.
“I don’t talk about it much, but it was really, um, it was not what you would expect. When people see me, I think they expect a different background than I have,” she said.
“I grew up with a lot of resentment, because we didn’t have things, like even food,” she added.
While Chastain, who earns millions of dollars for her movie roles, now enjoys a life of wealth, she says that she still gets angry thinking about the fact that there are still people around the world struggling to make ends meet.
“So because I come from that place, I know what it’s like and it makes me angry. And I don’t [want] anyone else to be denied anything. In terms of a voice, being seen, being acknowledged and valued,” she said.
