John Oliver Calls Out John Cena For Apologising To China

John Oliver has called out John Cena for apologising to China and the Chinese people after he referred to Taiwan as a “country”.
Cena came under fire in May, after he called Taiwan a country in an interview promoting Fast And Furious 9.
The actor and WWE star said that Taiwan would be the first “country” able to watch the film once it’s released.
“I made one mistake. I love and respect China and Chinese people. I’m very, very sorry about my mistake,” Cena said in his apology on Chinese social media site Weibo.

In a discussion about Taiwan on his show on Sunday, Oliver addressed Cena’s remarks stating that his apology video was weird.
“It’s weird John Cena apologised to China. It’s weird he did it for calling Taiwan a country,” he said.
“And it’s weird to see him do it in pretty decent Mandarin. That’s just too many weird things,” he added.
