Johnny Depp has claimed that he is victim of cancel culture whilst collecting his honorary award at the San Sebastian Film Festival.

The actor is at the event to collect his honorary Donostia Award, the highest award available at the film festival.

During a press conference before receiving his award, Depp, who was removed from his role in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, claimed that he and many other have been a victim of cancel culture.

“It can be seen as an event in history that lasted for however long it lasted, this cancel culture, this instant rush to judgement based on what essentially amounts to polluted air,” he said.

“It’s so far out of hand now that I can promise you that no one is safe. Not one of you. No one out that door. No one is safe,” he added.

The San Sebastian Film Festival originally had to defend their decision to award Depp his honorary award, after a number of women rights groups called them out.
