JoJo Siwa Credits Demi Lovato’s Music For Her “Gay Awakening”

YouTuber and singer JoJo Siwa revealed in an interview with Demi Lovato that her music had inspired her “gay awakening”.

Lovato interviewed Siwa as part of their 4D With Demi Lovato series on YouTube.

“Oh my god, I’m so excited!” Exclaimed the 18-year-old ‘Boomerang‘ singer after meeting Lovato. “There’s like four moments from my childhood that I never thought would come true, and this is probably one of them.”

The pair went on to discuss creativity, success and sexuality. “I’ve been figuring out my gay awakenings recently.” Said Siwa. “I think I realised that my very first gay awakening was Jenna Dewan’s performance on Lip Sync Battle.”

“But I remember – do you remember your dancer, her name is Jojo Gomez? And you did ‘Cool For The Summer‘ together. I remember seeing that and just being a little too interested. Just a little too.”

Siwa added that she wasn’t the only one affected by Lovato’s music, as her girlfriend, Kylie can attest. “Yesterday I was talking with my girlfriend Kylie about our gay awakenings and she said she went to your concert, and it was that concert. She would probably have been 12, maybe 13, and she was there with her mom.”

Talking about their track ‘Cool For The Summer‘, Lovato explained it was their way of sharing their sexuality without officially coming out as bisexual.

“I didn’t come out until like 2017,” Said Lovato. “Cool For The Summer was like 2014/2015. So like, that to me was my way of saying ‘I’m not ready to come out but…’”

“I want to share this but I don’t know how yet.” Siwa said with understanding.
