Josh Hartnett Joins ‘Oppenheimer’ Cast

Josh Hartnett has joined the star-studded cast of Christopher Nolan’s upcoming picture, Oppenheimer.

The upcoming historical drama depicts the life of the titular physicist, J. Robert Oppenheimer. The renowned WWII scientist is known for his contribution to the Manhattan Project and the subsequent invention of the atom bomb.

Cillian Murphy is touted to play the leading role, joined by a host of Hollywood A-listers including, Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Benny Safdie, and Rami Malek.

Deadline first broke the news of Hartnett’s casting, though his role in the film is yet to be revealed. The 43-year-old actor made his film debut in 1998’s Halloween H20: 20 Years Later. He later starred in the likes of Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, The Black Dahlia, and I Come with the Rain, before playing Ethan Chandler in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful.

Oppenheimer is scheduled for release on July 21, 2023.
