Jussie Smollett Preparing Lawsuit Against City Of Chicago

Jussie Smollett is preparing to sue the City of Chicago after they sued him for allegedly faking his attack earlier this year. 

In legal documentation, the former Empire star says he’s considering filing a lawsuit against Chicago Town for “their conduct underlying the arrest and their conduct thereafter.”

Speculation about his claim if he were to file a lawsuit is that he believes he’s the victim of malicious prosecution. His attorney said, “Defendant contemplates filing an action against the City of Chicago and/or its agents for their conduct underlying the arrest and their conduct thereafter including constitutional claims and state law claims. Defendant reserves the right to bring such claims at the appropriate time provided by law.”

Both the defendant, Jussie, and the claimant, City of Chicago, feel the preparation for trial will be ready by 2020 with the trial commencing around June 2020; quoting both sides as saying they have “engaged in settlement discussions, but those discussions are not ongoing.”
