Karl-Anthony Towns has opened up about his struggle with mental health after the loss of his mother to COVID-19.

The 25-year-old NBA star praised his girlfriend Jordyn Woods in an appearance on the Peace of Mind with Taraji show on Monday for helping him deal with the loss of his mother from COVID-19 in April last year.

“A woman that meant so much to me in my life left my life to be replaced by another woman to take that spot,” Towns said.

“I feel like in a way, when my mom passed, she was like, ‘I’m not going to leave you alone. I’m going to make sure you know who you’re supposed to be with,’” he added.

Towns, who officially started dating Woods in September last year, said because his girlfriend had dealt with similar tragedy after losing her father to cancer several years ago, it was easy for him to lean on her for support.

“I leaned on her because she’s one of the only people who would actually know how I was feeling and what was going through,” he said.
