Kate Winslet Praises Actors For Speaking Out About Sexual Harassment

Kate Winslet praised the courage of actors who have shared their experiences of sexual harassment, crediting them with the changes in Hollywood’s culture.
In an interview with People, Winslet said that gender equality in Hollywood was definitely improving.
“The men always got paid the most, or just treated differently from a respect level on set.” Said Winslet, reflecting on the past landscape of the film industry. “I think that I definitely think is changing.”
“We have to thank the wonderful actors who have spoken about experiences that have been so appalling. We all have their backs. We’re not going to let those things happen anymore. This is a time of change, of getting rid of those horrendous things, standing together and moving forward.”
Winslet recently starred and produced in HBO’s Mare of Easttown. The series has received a an impressive 16 Emmy nominations, including Winslet’s nomination for Best Actress. The 45-year-old said the nominations made her feel as though “all 16 of my children just graduated”.
