Kevin Hart Steps Down As Host Of Oscars

Controversy over comments Kevin Hart made back in 2009 regarding the LGBTQ+ community have surfaced in light of his gig at the Oscars.
Kevin shared several posts back in 2009 to 2011 that offended the LDBTQ+ community, including, “Yo if my son comes home & try’s 2 play with my daughters doll house I’m going 2 break it over his head & say n my voice ‘stop that’s gay’” — the comedian has since apologised over the years and in his words today, “I have addressed it… I have spoken on it, I have said where the rights and wrongs were… I’ve done it… I’m not going to continue to go back… I am in a completely different space in my life,”.
He said he received a call from the academy saying he needed to apologise, or ultimately they’ll need to look for a new host. Since the conversations began earlier today, Kevin has stepped down from hosting the Oscars saying, “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s… this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologise to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.
I’m sorry that I hurt people… I am evolving and want to continue to do so. My goal is to bring people together not tear us apart. Much love & appreciation to the Academy. I hope we can meet again.”

Do you think it was the right move for the Academy to tell Kevin to apologise again before hosting the Oscars?
