Lee Daniels Says Jussie Smollett Won’t Return To Empire

Empire co-creator, Lee Daniels, has hit the last nail in the coffin for Jussie Smollett’s return in the show.
Variety published a story claiming Empire writers are prepping for Jussie Smollett’s return in season 6 but in the seemingly never-ending battle between the mainstream media and the producers of the Fox show, confirming that he won’t be returning has been given.
In a tweet, Lee said, “This is not factual. Jussie will NOT be returning to Empire.” — with him now taking the strong stance against any comeback from Jussie — back in April, he said, when asked if he would return, “That’s a conversation we’re having right now.”
Ever since allegations were made against the actor that he falsely reported a hate crime to law enforcement, it has finally been confirmed that he will not be returning to the drama series.
Previously, Fox announced, “there are no plans for the character of Jamal to return to Empire.” with Jussie’s representative saying, “We’ve been told Jussie will not be on ‘Empire’ in the beginning of the season but he appreciates they have extended his contract to keep Jamal‘s future open.”
He was suspended from the fifth season’s finale in February 2019.
