Leon Spinks, boxing legend from the 70s, has passed away.

The 67-year-old former world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medal-winning boxer died on Friday after battling prostate cancer, among other cancers, for the last five years.

His publicist said in a statement, “At the time of his passing his wife Brenda Glur Spinks was by his side. Due to Covid restrictions, only a few close friends and other family were present,”

Spinks defeated Muhammad Ali in 1978 with only seven other professional fights under his belt, making him the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion. Ali reclaimed the heavyweight title in a rematch seven months later.
