Leslie Grace has revealed how she learnt she had secured the role of Batgirl.

In a short interview with Variety at the MTV Video Music Awards, Grace described how her “brain broke”.

“It was an incredible moment. I mean, when I mean incredible, I mean the textbook definition of incredible. Like I could not believe it. My brain actually broke when I got the news.”

“The directors actually called me, and the producers were on the line. They called me under the pretence, or had me hop on a Zoom link under the pretence that I was doing a final test,” said Grace.

“So I hop on, and I only see our two directors, Adil and Bilall, who are so sweet. They were like ‘yeah, we just want to do this final test’.”

“And then they broke it to me, ‘We just want you to read this text; we’re going to send it to your email.’ And I opened it and it say’s, ‘I’m Batgirl, love Adil‘, and my brain broke.”

The 26-year-old In The Heights actress went on to say that she hoped her casting “validates the dreams of other people who look like me”.

“I’m just really excited about every young girl who is going to see a Dominican Batichica and say, ‘I can do that’.”
