Lil Nas X Goes Back to Country Roots And Performs Dolly Parton

Lil Nas X performed Dolly Parton’s Jolene on BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge.

He also performed Montero (Call Me By Your Name) and two further tracks from his new album Montero, Dead Right Now and That’s What I Want.

“This song is kind of like beautifully sad, you know? I like the little twang, like the country twang in it. So I was like, ‘Lemme try this out,’” he explained on the radio show.

Everyone remembers when Lil Nas X and Billy-Ray Cyrus collaborated on Old Town Road remix. Nas allegedly wants to collab with every member of the Cyrus family.

Nas’ deep, husky voice helps convey the raw emotion in Jolene, a ballad about begging someone not to ‘take your man.’
