Louis Vuitton Says “Virgil Was Here”
After Virgil Abloh passed away recently it sent shock waves through the fashion industry. Virgil was the creative director of Louis Vuitton, now the brand has payed tribute to him.
The show took place in Miami, Florida as per Virgil’s wishes.
The tribute started with a video on Instagram.
The monumental achievements of Virgil throughout his lifetime are too many to list, but his popularity was clear to see through the sheer amount of people in attendance.
Louis Vuitton’s CEO Michael Burke said his speech “The deeply moving show we are about to see is born out of an idea Virgil and I first discussed three years ago. It is based around the traditional coming of age narrative, but of course, being Virgil, he spun and recontextualized the concept for the 21st century, and in doing so expressed his own unique talents and vision.”
The end of the shower was particularly touching, with scene of the fashion show being illuminated in rainbow colours and Virgil’s famous quote “you can’t waste even a day subscribing to what someone thinks you can do versus knowing what you can do.”
