Lourdes Leon Doesn’t Want To Be An Influencer

Lourdes Leon has rapidly become one of the most in demand names in fashion, attending the Met Gala at the age of twenty-four, the face of Swarovski, but has said she doesn’t want to be an influencer.

Lourdes, or Lola, is the daughter of global superstar Madonna and in a recent interview with Paper magazine has spoken about what she would like her legacy to look like.

She speaks candidly about her feelings towards social media, saying “half these social media presences are a complete lie. Obviously nobody is documenting the pain and shiftiness they go through.”

“Everyone wants to just show you their unboxing videos and skincare routines. And it’s like, girl there’s more to you than that.”

Leon has already been tipped as one to watch by many in the industry, already featuring in campaigns for Marc Jacobs and Mugler.

She was also asked about her opinion on “what fashion needs” to which she replied “I guess that is fashion now, in a way. And people who dress fully for themselves get so much hate.”

“I don’t know if it can go back now because of what social media has done to fashion, but I think that’s what it needs: [to be] based on the individual and how they choose to dress and live their lives.”

In contrast to this, the shoot for Paper was undeniably inspired by the Y2K trend, shot by photographer Indiana who’s portfolio is clearly inspired by all things early 2000’s but with his own creative mindset he is able to elevate his work from out of just following a trend to something completely original.
