‘Mad Max’ Prequel ‘Furiosa’ Delayed Until 2024

The release of George Miller’s prequel to ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘ has been delayed until May 2024.
The new film ‘Furiosa‘ is based on the character played by Charlize Theron in the original film. Anya Taylor-Joy will portray the younger iteration of the character in the prequel. Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star alongside Taylor-Joy.
Empire reports that no reason was given for the delay, but cites studio scheduling and fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic as possible causes.
In the meantime, George Miller is currently working on his new feature, ‘Three Thousand Years of Longing‘. The film – which began production in Australia in 2020 – is pegged as an epic fantasy romance, starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton.
Anya Taylor-Joy was recently announced to feature alongside Nicholas Hoult and Ralph Fiennes in ‘The Menu‘. The 25-year-old actress is due to appear in Robert Eggers film, ‘The Northman‘ and David O. Russell’s next untitled project.
