Michael Bay, Gareth Evans And Patrick Hughes Leading ‘The Raid’ Reboot

Michael Bay, Gareth Evans and Patrick Hughes are teaming up for a Netflix reboot of The Raid.
According to Deadline, Hughes is touted to direct the project, while Bay and Evans will produce and executive produce respectively.
The reboot is based on Evans‘ cult classic action film of the same name, released in 2011. Set in Indonesia, the original picture followed a S.W.A.T. team who becomes trapped in a tenement building run by a ruthless drug lord.
Hughes pens the script for the reboot, co-written with James Beaufort, with the new story based in Philadelphia’s drug-ridden ‘Badlands’. There, an undercover task force goes in search of an elusive kingpin.
“We’re incredibly excited about Patrick’s unique vision for this film,” producers stated. “It’s a distinctly original take on the material, which promises to pay great respect to the original film while also bringing a fresh approach and perspective that will set its own course in the action genre.”
Among Hughes‘ previous action titles are Red Hill, The Expendables 3 and The Hitman’s Bodyguard.
