Michael C. Hall reveals that it took years’ worth of convincing for him to reprise Dexter Morgan.

The 49-year-old Six Feet Under actor has taken part in his first official interview for the upcoming Showtime series Dexter revival and he gets candid about his opinions of the original ending.

Talking with Daily BeastHall explains that “the story that’s being told is worth telling,” and goes further to say, “We certainly do live in an era where the bar is very high as far as the simultaneous surprise, satisfaction and closure that should go along with a series finale.”

He shared his thoughts on the September 2013 ending, saying, “People found the way that show left things pretty unsatisfying, and there’s always been a hope that a story would emerge that would be worth telling … I include myself in the group of people that wondered, ‘What the hell happened to that guy?’” with Michael continuing to say that the ending was “justifiable for Dexter to do what he did.”
