Nicolas Cage has opened up about the highs and lows of his life and career, including his fifth marriage to Riko Shibata.

Speaking with GQ for their April 2022 issue, Cage declared that his marriage to Shibata was “it” for him.

“I am a romantic, and when I’m in love, I want to give that person everything I can,” he said. “It’s my expression of saying, ‘I love you.”

“I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’ And this is it for me. I mean, this is not happening again. This is it. This is it.”

The 58-year-old actor has endured a tumultuous love life in past decades. In 1995 Cage was married for the first time to Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette. They divorced in 2001 and he subsequently wed Lisa Presley – the daughter of Elvis Presley – before again filing for divorce just 107 days later.

Cage’s third and longest marriage was to Alice Kim in 2004, before divorcing 12 years later in 2016. Perhaps his most publicised marriage occurred in 2019 when he tied the knot with then-partner Erika Koike in Las Vegas. Within just four days Cage sought an annulment, citing drunkenness and an inability to understand his actions.

Now, happily married to Shibata since February 2021, the couple is already anticipating their first child together.

Explaining that they’ve already picked out names for the unborn child, Cage said that a girl would be called Lennon Augie after his father’s nickname, while a boy would be called Akira Francesco in honour of his uncle, Francis Ford Coppola.
