Regina Hall Starring In ‘Midnight Run’ Sequel
Regina Hall will star in the planned sequel to Robert De Niro’s 1988 hit, Midnight Run.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, De Niro is producing the follow-up film alongside Jane Rosenthal for Tribeca. Hall will also produce under RH Negative, with Jesse Collins for Jesse Collins Entertainment and Sara Scott for Universal Pictures.
The exact premise of the new film is unknown, though Aeysha Carr is penning the script. It was formally suggested that a follow-up picture could act as a prequel to the original.
Midnight Run starred De Niro as a bounty hunter named Jack Walsh. Tasked with bringing a mob accountant named Jonathan Mardukas (Charles Grodin) back to Los Angeles, a comedic road trip quickly ensues as the pair is pursued by the mob and the FBI.
Regina Hall rose to prominence following her first film role as Candy Sparks in The Best Man. She went on to star in the Scary Movie franchise as Brenda Meeks and also featured as an attorney in Law & Order: LA. In 2018 Hall received multiple award nominations for her starring role in Support the Girls.
