Robert Pattinson is in talks to star in Bong Joon Ho’s next project.

According to Deadline, Bong will write and direct the currently untitled film, based on Edward Ashton’s upcoming book Mickey7.

Bong is also touted to produce the project through Offscreen, alongside Dooho Choi for Kate Street Picture Company and Plan B.

The upcoming novel follows the life of the titular character Mickey7, who works as an Expendable employee during an expedition to colonise the frozen planet Niflheim. As an Expendable, Mickey must perform the tasks deemed too deadly for the rest of the crew, dying only to be regenerated with most of his memories intact.

The new Warner Bros film marks Bong’s latest project since the global success of Parasite. The 2019 South Korean picture brought home a huge collection of awards, including 4 Oscars, 2 BAFTA awards, and a Golden Globe.

Bong’s other work includes major titles like The Host, Okja and Snowpiercer.

Pattinson is currently awaiting his debut as the Caped Crusader in The Batman – scheduled for release on March 4, 2022.

He rose to prominence after his 2005 portrayal of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, before achieving global renown for his subsequent casting as Edward Cullen in The Twilight Saga.
