Ryan Gosling Cast As Ken In ‘Barbie’

Ryan Gosling will join the cast of Warner Bros. upcoming Barbie film.
According to Deadline, the 40-year-old actor is in the final stages of talks to join the project. Gosling is set to play the role of Ken opposite Margot Robbie, who will play the titular character, Barbie.
Greta Gerwig is directing the project, which she co-wrote with Noah Baumbach. Robbie is also producing the film alongside her husband, Tom Ackerley, through LuckyChap Entertainment.
Also producing are Robbie Brenner and David Heyman for Mattel.
Though plot details are being kept mostly under wraps, the film is pegged to challenge stereotypes and will have a more feminist approach to the popular doll. IMDB suggests the story will follow Barbie after her expulsion from ‘Barbieland’ for not being perfect enough.
Ryan Gosling wrapped production on the upcoming Netflix thriller, The Gray Man, earlier this year. He will feature alongside Chris Evans and Jessica Henwick.
Among Gosling’s most notable work are starring roles in The Notebook, Drive, and Blade Runner 2049.
Production on Barbie hopes to begin early next year.
